Please introduce yourself

Are you new to Blogging English and the online self-paced study group? We really want to learn more about you and get to know one another. Tell us about yourself, and write a short introduction by answering the questions below.

Please post your introduction as a comment to this post. New study group members can comment but not post until they show interest in participation by commenting.

Answer the questions with complete sentences to write a personal introduction paragraph. Format by omitting numerals and starting the next sentence on the same line as the one before. Do not start sentences on a new line.
  1. What is your name or what nickname do you want to use in the study groups?
  2. What country are you from? Where do you live now?
  3. What do you currently do?  Are you a student?  Do you work?  What is your job?
  4. Why are you studying English? What are your learning goals? How do you hope or expect to use English?
  5. What are your interests and hobbies?
  6. If you are comfortable with sharing the information, please tell us your age and gender ( whether you are male or female).
I look forward to studying with all of you and our getting to know one another better.

For something even easier than the model above, try this formula for writing an introduction: fill in the blanks and then copy the paragraph (without the numbers).  There will more "introduction" writing lessons later. We use different forms of the introduction almost every day meeting people, applying for work or to schools, giving talks, joining new groups, writing cover letters and application essays and more.

Now though, all we need is to get better acquainted.  Here is a Welcome to Blogging English message. My own introduction is too long and needs updating but should do for now. Finally, I've always liked this essay about writing, culture and expectations because it reminds me of differences in writing. I hope you will too.

  1. My self-introduction

Hi! all. I'm from Japan. I'll be 73 years old this June. I've been learnig English at Vanessa's class. However I'm absent from the class for many months. So I don't know any new classmatews. I have no job now. But I'm very busy for my hobbies. I'm crazy about playing contract bridge and playing my ocarina. However I'm still interested in learnig English. I restart learnig English from now.

  2. Hello Sadamu ~ glad to see you back... and to have someone to visit with. We have regular visitors. They don't introduce themselves, leave comments or ask questions. But as long as they come, I'll keep on posting resources and moving the "please introduce yourself" post back to the top of the page where it can be seen.

Your writing looks good. Are you still keeping your journal to practice? I've been thinking about what you wrote a while back about still finding speaking difficult. That would make a good project for us. What about your listening comprehension? How is that?
